The controversy in Christian circles which found expression in the correspondence columns of The Times in August 1955 later became concerned not only with the character of the Bible but with the practice of evangelism. It was plain that great misgivings were felt by many responsible people about much contemporary evangelistic effort, and their criticisms deserve our humble and thoughtful consideration. They seem to resolve themselves into three chief questions.
